Match report written by Neil Metcalfe, The Comet

Another mistake was responsible for costing Stevenage more points as they drew with Peterborough United.

Dan Kemp's 10th goal of the season had put Boro in front 10 minutes into the second half but Cian Hayes came off the bench to equalise after an error by Jordan Roberts.

Peterborough had not won in their last 12 away games, losing 10 of them, and they will be delighted with the point in the 1-1 draw.

However, like at Crawley Town, poor passing and an inability to look after the ball will leave Alex Revell less than happy.

The boss went with three changes from the defeat on the road in midweek.

Jamie Reid was the big omission with Dan Phillips and Dan Sweeney also coming out.

Kyle Edwards came in for his first start, fellow January signing Brandon Hanlan also keeping his place, while Charlie Goode and Eli King.

All three went to the bench with Harvey White returning from his absence at Sussex in place of Louis Appere.

Peterborough have been rotten on the road but if you hoped Boro would take advantage with a blistering start, you were left feeling downhearted.

King turned down a shot early on, the move ending moments later when Roberts did let fly but straight at Jed Steer.

The pivotal moment of the half came on 17 minutes, Hanlan putting a low Kemp cross into the net but the flag ruling it out for offside.

Perhaps more telling was Kemp's pass seconds earlier, pushed down the right towards Roberts when he obviously missed Edwards totally unmarked down the left side.

Other than that there was little of note, and Posh had more opportunities to go forward than either they possibly expected or Boro wanted to give them.

Nothing threatened Murphy Cooper's goal though.

It was a game that needed an injection of something, anything, and it was certainly a second half that Stevenage needed to step up two gears at least, certainly in attack.

They had a glorious chance in the opening two minutes after the break with Hanlan finally getting the better of the offside flag.

Sent away down the left, he tried to open his body and hit it with his right foot. That meant he couldn't get the power and placement right and Steer was able to block it.

Stevenage got it right though on 55 minutes.

Kemp's first shot was blocked but pinged out to the left of the box where Roberts and Edwards kept it alive.

And when King pushed it back to the edge of the area, this time Kemp picked his spot and curled it wide to the left of Steer.

That should have been enough to douse any passion left in the visitors but they were thrown a bone 12 minutes later, and they took it.

Roberts gave the ball away with a sloppy pass and a quick ball into the box found Hayes.

He stood Lewis Freestone up before pushing it to his right and thumping it high over the left shoulder of Cooper.

Roberts was removed from the play minutes later, perhaps unconnected, perhaps not.

The visiting support certainly sensed there could be something long-awaited coming but then so did the Stevenage support.

There was only brief moments that may have brought joy to either though, with Posh definitely the happier of the two at the end.
