Biography

Ince was one of very few players who represented Stevenage Town as both an amateur and professional club.

Joining in the late 1950s, when the club was playing at the old London Road ground, Ince was initially a full back and had previously played for Addlestone aged just 15. It was only after George Curtis became manager in 1963 that Ince was turned into a centre forward.

His father was Tom Ince, popular chairman of Stevenage Town and an instrumental figure in the transition from amateur to professional club.

Ince chose to continue as an amateur from 1963, and continued to play for Town until 1966 when he joined near neighbours - and amateur club - Hitchin Town.

After retiring from playing, he went on to coach Langford and Shefford, becoming one of a number of Curtis's players to go into a coaching career.
